Scoliosis Therapy Centers

Congenital scoliosis

Congenital scoliosis means that you are born with a spinal curvature. This type of scoliosis happens because the spine does not fully develop in the womb.

Neuromuscular scoliosis

Neuromuscular scoliosis (NMS) is a type of child and adolescent scoliosis that occurs in people with medical conditions that impair their ability to control the muscles that support the lumbar spine. A few more common conditions associated with NMS include muscular dystrophy, cerebral palsy, and spina bifida.

Idiopathic scoliosis

Idiopathic scoliosis is one of the three types of scoliosis that causes the spinal cord to develop an abnormal curvature. “Idiopathic” means there is no definite cause. It tends to run in families and affects girls eight times as often as it affects boys.

How It Works

Scoliosis Therapy Centers (STC) and our partners take collaborative effort to the next level from the initial evaluation through the follow-up appointment.

After an in-depth evaluation and analysis from our clinical director, we send your clinical information to an additional team of world-renowned experts in conservative treatments for scoliosis. They review all clinical photos, patient history, 3D scans, and x-rays.

After a thorough analysis of your clinical information and records, our team of dedicated physical therapists and partners decides the most optimal and precise approach for you.

All WCR brace fabrications are done by Raul Ferrera in Spain, who practices as both a Schroth therapist and Orthotist renowned for his expertise in scoliosis brace intervention and modifications. Raul has a current and continuous working relationship with Dr. Rigo, one of the most renowned authorities in scoliosis diagnosis and treatment.

After you are fitted with the brace and an in-brace x-ray is performed, we send the clinical photos and the x-rays back to our team for additional review to determine if we can optimize the brace further to improve your outcome and quality of life. Due to the complexity of the WCR brace system and standards of quality and control policies, we may make a new brace system before you can use it.
