Align Scoliosis Foundation

I’d like to introduce to you ASF. This is informational for you to familiarize yourself with if and when the situation arises that one of our patients is in a difficult financial situation as a possible solution.

A year ago, Grant Wood, who owns Align Clinic (The “W“ in WCR) founded a nonprofit 501c3 named Align Scoliosis Foundation (ASF). The purpose of this foundation is to help patients and families in need of quality scoliosis bracing by assisting them financially. The guidelines to qualify for this support are:

Dear Align Scoliosis Foundation,

My husband and I would like pass on our gratitude for being chosen as recipients of the scholarship for our daughter’s WCR brace. Without Lynn mentioning this opportunity we would have had an undue hardship. Lynn encouraged us to apply and we are so glad we did! My daughter received her WCR brace last Tuesday and so far, has adapted quite well. She was pleased on how thin it was and that it was easy to wear under clothing. In fact, after we received the brace we bought her some new clothes to wear with it.

She is a teenage girl, so fashion is very important to her! As parents, we are encouraged the brace won’t just hold her curve, but hopefully decrease it while providing some rotation of her hips.

We know we chose the correct brace and are so thankful for Emery’s expertise and Lynn’s knowledge of financial assistance. We can’t thank you enough and are so grateful to you and the foundation.

Sophie came to our Woodlands Office in Texas. Even thought she has a very caring mother I have never met her because she needs to attend Sophie’s younger sister who has health problems. Our visits depend of relatives driving Sophie to my office.

Most of the Doctors have told Sophie’s family that she needs surgery. Perhaps that is the case in the future but she wants to do EVERYTHING POSSIBLE to avoid surgery. They were afraid the doctor would be mad at them for searching for other options.

Her thoracic apex is too high to control her curve effectively, however two things were possible:

  • To design a brace that will control her curve as much as possible elevating her trimlines high under the left axilla
  • To find the support of Align Scoliosis Foundation.

Six months later her curves have gone down to non surgical Cobb angle numbers. So far it looks promising.

I want to thank ASF for making it possible. We don’t know what is going to happen but we know we are doing our best to help.

Sergio came from San Antonio to my office in The Woodlands Texas with his mother and grandfather. They wanted to get more information about the WCR brace. They didn’t have the money to cover for the brace. It was recommended for them to apply to ASF application was done and less than a week after it the founds were approved.

The brace was delivered and it has been taking longer for the family to bring Sergio back to his doctor with In Brace x Ray. Only two months after the fitting his father took Sergio for an In Brace x Ray. We have our next appointment on November at San Antonio Clinic to review In brace xrays. Patient has been wearing his brace on and off 12 hours a day.
